Battle 05

Shame & Condemnation

Will failure define you more than Christ does?

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1 · KJV
The lie

My worst failure is my truest name.

The truth

Conviction leads a man toward confession and restoration. Condemnation drives him toward hiding and despair.

Reason it through

Truth must govern the response.

Grace never calls evil good. It tells the truth about sin while locating the believer's identity and hope in Christ.

Battle plan

Practice before pressure.

  1. 1Distinguish specific conviction from vague self-hatred.
  2. 2Confess what is actually sin.
  3. 3Receive forgiveness instead of self-punishment.
  4. 4Make restitution where wisdom requires it.

A prayer to begin

“Jesus, teach me to repent honestly and stand in the freedom You give.”
